ok so i talked to my local mechanic cause my truck was ildling rough, seemed down on power, and kept sending the code #8 injector misfire detected. he said try a cam sensor cause the recall ones sometimes throw a false code or cause rough idle. i have since tried an international and carquest cam sensor both and it still throws the code and runs rough. tonight i put a new AE injector in and vavle cover with wiring the new wiring. my truck idles way smoother and has alot more power again but i clear the misfire code and it comes right back. i have no clue where to go from here. anybody have any suggestions? thx for any ideas that u guys may have

How many miles on that motor? I would do a compression check on a few cylinders starting with #8, mine had a cracked ring in #8. #8 is the worst cylinder on the 7.3 to have problems, partially because it gets starved for fuel since its the last one in line. I have taken apart 4 engines and all of them the #8 cylinder has been the worst.
I wish you luck. Paul |
