Do you have an electric shifter?

I've seen several friends' switches go bad. One guy pulled it out and jumped the connections to fix it temporarily.

I've heard of the motors freezing up due to not using them very often. try tapping on it lightly with the truck in neutral while someone switches it over.

I'd be careful doing that-While the truck is driveable as it is, if you get it in 4 low without fixing the issue, getting it out will be an ordeal, and it will not be drivable.
