boost leak? icp sensor?

So guys my egts have been running a little higher then normal under a load of 3500 trailer weight. So I called and talked to dp and he said if I'm not seeing at least 23 psi I might have a boost leak.which I wasn't getting. Most I saw was about 18psi. I know I need a icp sensor which I will have in later tonight or tomorrow. Could the sensor cause the boost pressure to be low since the injectors arnt firing right? If that's impossible where should I start checking for boost leaks? Sorry this isn't really detailed I'm on the road today so I had to use my phone.
