Exclamation DP-Tuner & EGT's

I just installed my dp-tuner last thursday. We loaded up the trailer(8500-9000 lbs.) and headed out. Stock setting was an improvement compaired to my 2000 stock program but when I set it to the 60-tow my EGT's went up to 1250 really fast. Now I've had an Edge Evolution for the last 2-years and it seemed that the dp-tuner 60-tow program affected my EGT's alot more. Has anyone else noticed this kind of problem. What really made me mad was the cummins towing a 9 1/2' camper and a 23 boat left me in the dust.

With a trailer that large the DP Tuner 40 tow might have been a better option.

I tow 9-10k in my 60 tow mode all the time. EGT will hit 1250 if I lug it but if I kick it out of OD on the hills to keep my RPM's and PSI up then I dont have troubles with the EGT.

When were you maxing out EGT's? Hills? On the flats? Details...

It hits 1200 as I just start to hit the hills. The problem is that I have the power to go faster with the chip but the EGT's are so hot I can't. It was a steep hill probably a 7 to 8 % grade but I didn't have to shift down to second gear before. Second gear will keep me at about 45 mph and 1200 on my EGT's.

The DP could be dumping more fuel in than the Edge was and that is the reason for the rise in temps. That's a pretty good load to pull up a pretty steep hill so the 60tow setting may be just a bit too hot for that combo. You may want to send it back for a 40 tow setting to be added to your chip so you can use it on the steeper hills.

You pull a 10K trailer with OD engaged? I thought that was a no-no with almost any sized trailer of small-medium size and up?

You can tow anything in OD, so long as the tranny is not hunting for gears...

Tow all you want in OD with our trucks as long as the transmission isnt hunting for gears. In fact, most of the time I'm towing its in OD while on highways or freeways unless I'm climbing a hill and then I'll usually take it out of OD as I begin to climb so I can keep my RPM's up where she tows best.
