Straight pipe CA smog Legal?

I just bought a 2001 F250 4 door short box 4X4. Being that this is my first diesel truck, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to look for on this truck. I bought it from a Toyota dealership in town. It has the 7.3L, stock turbo, DP tuner, muffler delete, 3-4 inch lift (type unknown) Auto Meter lunar series Pyrometer, Boost pressure, and trans temp. Also the Pryometer does not light up anymore and the series has been discontinued, will any auto meter work to replace with the existing wiring? Thank you for the help

to spass inspection out here your going to need the muffler on it and if the truck originally came with a cat that will need to be on it as well..
as far as the gauge is concerned you should just be able to replace the bulb... pull the gauge out of the pod and you can see where the bulb is and just replace it...

i just contacted a ford dealership, they stated that with a non catalyst system a muffler is not needed to pass smog (at least thats what there smog tech said) also, I pulled the gauge out and looked for a light bulb, it doesnt seem to have one. Its the lunar series. The model has been discontinued.

Yeah honestly if your smog guy isnt a prick a muffler has nothing to do with emissions so they shouldnt bug you, the 5oh on the other hand sure could but theres alotta straight piped 7.3's runnin around here, no worries on my part.

A muffler is not a smog issue. The cat is. Most likely it didn't come with one. The dealership you bought it from should've already smogged it. It is a law in California that they do.

The dealership smogged it, just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting screwed though. I know of people having their car smogged from the LA area while their vehicle was in norther ca. Just making sure I won't have to put a muffler on in 2 years.
