My first Powerstroke, have some questions
Hey guys, I just bought my first powerstroke. It's a 99 F-350, 7.3l, automatic, crew cab dually. I pull a trailer that weighs about 10000lbs. I notice that this truck wants to constanly up shift and not stay in the boost. I pulled a real steep hill yesterday and all the way up the hill the truck would shift from 2nd to 3rd, lose all boost, then shift back down to 2nd. It did this repeatedly until I just manually put the truck in 2nd. I don't necessarily think anything is wrong with the truck, it only has 114000 miles on it. But this does seem strange. I don't know much about the history of the truck, it came from a dealer, but I noticed that there is a transgo sticker on the tranny pan, which leads me to believe that someone has been in the tranny before. Just curious if any one has any thoughts on this or ways to remedy the problem. this may be a common powerstroke thing, or there may be something wrong with my truck. Just trying to determine which it is. thanks,

Yes, I had the overdrive turned off. I've been looking at chips and programmers, not sure if that will fix it or if I have a tranny issue.

Transcommand
I believe you need the Banks Transcommand system. My truck came with it on. It eliminates downshifting while towing. Check it out at Banks Power Systems. This should solve your problem.
