Odometer reading in kilometers.....anyone know of a way to switch back to miles?!?!?!

Let me start from the beginning, truck is a 02 with a 7.3,and back in Dec. my fuel bowl o-rings I had been putting off replacing(couldnt stand the thought of interrupting hunting season) finally blew out.I limped the truck back home (8 gallons of diesel in ten miles),replaced the o-rings in about 16 inches of snow, realizing after I was done (took a few days, parts store gave the wrong fuel filter, had to wait until after christmas weekend to get the new one)that both batteries were completely covered in snow, completely draining them (they were getting old anyways).Went and bought two new batteries, installed them, and got the truck running.Took the truck for a test drive and noticed that it acted like the PCM and ECM were in "learn" mode.Looked down at the odometer and it said 236k,well the problem is that the truck had ~140k.Cussed the truck out thought about selling it,said to hell with it for the night. The next day, after a known 10 mile ride,I realized the odometer was in kilometers. The local ford dealer knew exactly what the problem was and said he could reset it for $250.My response was that I bought an american made truck in america, why the hell would the odometer default to kilometers.Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to set it back to miles without the ford AIS scan tool??I have tried it with a snap on helios, with no luck.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
