2008+ tailgate lock question

Hi guys,

I'm in urgent need of an answer to my issue. Will the tailgate lock cylinder/barrel from a 1999-2007 tailgate work in the 2008+ tailgate? I'm buying a used 2008 tailgate with no key and want to swap my lock into it. Is this possible? Thanks

isnt it the same key as your ignition ? mine is

He is asking if he can take the lock cylinder out of his old tailgate to put in the new 08 gate.

Answer-I don't know, but if you're handy with locks you can re-key the 08 lock to use your key. That's what I did.

I used the entire assembly from my old tailgate and swapped it into my 08 tailgate...
