Horrible fuel economy

Ok so i have started to actually figure my MPG's lately. With only in town driving i am getting 10.5 empty, with about 75% town and 25% highway im getting about 14, and with 75% highway and 25% city im getting about 16. Now i know with the tires and lift the PO put on it will negatively affect my fuel economy but 10 mpg? List of mods etc are in my sig if you need any other info let me know. Any info/advice would help a lot thanks.

Also i have been running Lucas the last 3-4 tanks.

I do not know if the PO ever had it recalibrate or not to be honest. I am thinking about replacing all of the boots because there is a lot of oil residue on the engine near them so i am thinking this would indicate leaks? Thanks for the reply.

You can read my mods. Speedo calibrated with AutoEnginuity and verified with GPS. 14 MPG normally. I have seen 15 and almost 16 on long trips. I don't do any city driving but I bet it would be 6-8. Thing is so dang heavy! 8,300 pounds last time I checked with a full tank of fuel and my butt in the seat.

For reasons I don't remember, quit using Lucas. Someone smarter than I will probably chime in later and give the technicalities as to why you shouldn't use it, but just from going off a very vague memory... the chemicals in Lucas cleaner don't break down all the way and can be very destructive towards your engine. It might even say on the bottle NOT TO USE on the 7.3 turbo diesel.... better check me on that.

Well i just checked (not very accurately) but close enough. My speedo is off by about 5 mph. So i think i am getting a little better mileage than i thought but i still would like to make it better. As for the Lucas i read the bottle and it does not state anything about the 7.3 unless i missed it. If anyone else has heard bad things about it i will stop the use of it. If i reverse the lift and put 285/75/16's and had the speedo calibrated how many MPG's do you guys think i might pick up? Thanks again guys for all the help, always appreciate it.

Not sure? I keep a lot of crap in mine. There may be 75 ft of logging chain and two binders in there now with a tool box full of tools, jacks, water, oil, ATF, etc. I always have everything I need except a full tank of fuel!

Anyone ever tried this kit and if so how did it work out? Is there a better kit out there without breaking the bank?
