what kind of mileage cna i expect out of the 7.3 stock and what can i do for not too much to get better mileage out of the motor thanks

I was making 14-16 stock a custom burned chip will bring your milage up faster then anything else. However make sure you get some gauges also.

you can check out there are a few vendors who will burn chips.

your looking between 400 and 500, but can be less or more depending on the number of tunes you choose, and if its a chip or on an SCT unit.
