pcv looking thingy on drivers side valave cover? filter or?

anyone know wtf the pcv valve looking junction thingada is? looks to say go into the valve cover does it need to be changed wtf is it??? also any other filter on the truck other then this fuel and air job

You may be looking at the crank case ventilation. If it is it will also be plumbed straight up into the air intake. (I take it you are looking at a 7.3). Lots of folks do away with that unit, and pipe it out under the truck somewhere. Its called the CCV mod.

yeah plugs into the intake or valve cover ... looks to be oily round it
