personal oppion get a performance muffler. strait pipe is better than stock but you can heard the turbo fluttering. its not bad i had it for a while but i like a muffler better. i got a 4in turbo back with muffler from farmboys diesel sounds good only problem was its to quiet for me. also i think a strait pipe sounds better the bigger the pipe you have to. theres my 2cents lol.

dang, I shoulda recorded mine when I had cut off the stock at the DP and was waiting on installing my new exhaust... it was LOUD! but thats cause it was right under the cab.. also, on these truck - they sound.... umm "clacky" with a straight pipe in my opinion... but with my high flow muffler.. it sounds saweeeet!

ive got a 99 350 reg cab long bed, 7.3, cut everything off before the cat, there was nothing on it for a day or 2, loud and sounded awesome, i straight piped it and i love the way it sounds, ive got no muffler and no cat, the turbo is much louder and has a beefy sound when you get on it, i recommend doing an air intake as well, the motor breaths so much better and sounds awesome, im also running an edge performance chip. . . if anything else run a 4 in from the turb back my buddy has one and it sounds great

I just got the 4'' turbo back straight pipe from Welcome to Farmboys Diesel and love it. I was running the btm muffler for about a year but that is nothing compare to this. I like the flutter myself, and it really turns some heads. I have wicked wheel, predator on 60econo, 4'' straight pipe, 6637 intake, zoo-dad mod, and factory tech vb.
Service from Gus at farm boys was very good. |

The day I brought mine home I took it straight to my barn and sawzalled in front of the muffler and put a gutter 45 on it. After a while I cut the old tailpipe off, welded it to where I cut in front of the muffler and then put a piece of scrap 4'' over it. It sounds great, and didnt cost a dime. Sounds awesome driving next to a curb.

The wicked wheel doesnt add mpg either, its an old style compressor wheel out of an earlier Duty, it will actually make you lose 1-2psi in boost but will help rectify surge, if you dont have surge then leave your wheel in there. The 6637 intake is a good intake, they get dirty fast but i just blow my filters out, this is a good mod but im in the market for a new intake..something i can sink in some water every now and then, there is a guy out there that sells socks for the 6637 as i have one and its a great addition, keeps alot of dirt and mud out. this also wont greatly increase mpg..maybe .1 or .2.. Valve bodys- THANK god someone listened, these help alot, youll save your trans alot longer then leaving it stock.. GOOD addition and smart before chipping. Tuning is the only MPG jump youll see, unless you have a lead foot, now also if you run a lift and bigger tires kiss that MPG jump away.. |
