hey quick question on my 7.3

I just got a 2001 7.3 and it runs good just slow but that was expected

i rode in my buddies truck 2002 7.3 and hes all stock to and compared to mine his is much smoother throttle wise and mine makes a ticking noise when i give it fuel is that normal he told me its the injectors trying to talk to me lol
it runs good just that annoying ticking
please help its got 286k miles

Do you have an exhaust leak. I had my transmission rebuilt and the shop didnt get the clamp to my down pipe tightened and it made a noticeable ticking. Check it and also check your up pipes to make sure they are sealed to rule out exhaust tick. Oh and look at your exhaust manifolds, my passengers side was loose. I noticed it when I replaced my up pipe gaskets.

That's wat I thought to but it only ticks when I give it fuel and if if I member correctly and exhaust leak would tick all the time true?

yes they can. 'ticking' can be a relative term so we will have to hear it to know what your talking about.
