Any feedback on this truck....
Where do I begin...? Im looking to buy my first diesel ever. With that in mind I know only a fair amount about the ford diesels, nothing that would save my *** when it breaks down.
Id like to buy this truck 99 F550, Auto, 4x4 on the floor, 115K, plow, dumping flatbed, work truck condition. I feel its a good price. He said ok to $11,000, but Id bite today at $10,000 Please give me some feedback, im concerned about the auto trans ( he said its flushed each year) and the early 99, but not sure how to tell if it is early or late 99 Thanks |

Look at the sticker on the drivers door frame. The drivers side vale cover has a sticker on it with the engine build date.

Personally, I would want it checked out mechanically, price seems OK, but the interior is CRAP. It obviously wan't babied, and if it was a "company" truck... well, from my experience, company vehicles get beat to hell. I would want service records.

judging by the PSD emblems on the fenders, should be an early '99...

bingo! that being said check the compressor wheel for any dusting, if everything else works ok thats pretty low mileage, 10k for a 550 is good!

I would see what kind of service records he could produce. They are a tough truck and can handle a lot of abuse, but in return need to be maintained.
Those seats........ suck, I have the same ones. The "breathable" vinyl doesn't hold up well. The textured areas are basically pieces of vinyl poked full of holes, making it "breathable". I've been told they no longer make it and its hard to come by, by a local upholstry shop. I tried to get them repaired, no luck and they wanted to much to redo the whole seat, I'm looking for bucket seats to replace my bench seat. I would try to get him down some more. Especially if no service records are available. The 7.3 is my first diesel and I love it. I'm at 203k |
