The cheapest setup would be 1)diamond eye 2)Farm boys Diesel exhaust 3) Vaious places on ebay. All three are about the same price. MBRP probably make the best kit out there but they are a little more expensive. I went with the FBD 5" exhaust. Love the sound. Never rode in a 7.3 with only a 4" but I like the way my 5" sounds
If you want more power then your best bet is a chip from TW, PHP, or DP tuner (search feature.) If your only concern is smoke then your better off not bothering.(We don't need more emmission constraints then we already have) |

MBRP 4" EXHAUST 99-03 FORD POWERSTROKE 7.3L NO MUFFLER - eBay (item 130446528351 end time Mar-20-11 12:12:43 PDT)
this is the kit i had on my old truck, but mine was dual exhaust. i had a local exhaust shop put it on for $250. LOVED IT! wont smoke much until its chipped though. i had an edge programmer on it and it smoked a little, but it was fast just with a mild chip and the exhaust. sounded beautiful |

black smoke?
trust me you dont need to do that, just ends up making diesels look bad. they already have a bad rep and it dosent need to get worse. the mods on my truck below and it dont blow one bit of smoke! |

just put a walmart bag over your intake and drive it around

I like to see how fast I can clear up my smoke. If I roll into it off the line mine barely makes smoke any more and I like it that way. Makes my truck look clean.

Rollin coal is for booger pickers. Get a good exhaust and a tune and gauges.

everyone enjoys a lil smoke, but as said its wasted power... and upsets the tree huggers.. real power used is better..

Just because it smokes dont mean its broke!
But my suggestion is dont make us diesel enthusiasts look bad by just tuning your truck so it will smoke. If you want to have the performance then there is not really any need to have it pouring black smoke. And its more badass when you have a truck that doesnt look like it will do much and then you tear off the line and leave that little civic sittin at the light thinking "WTF was that?!?!" |
