180* T Stat?
First off, I wanted to say that Joey at Terminator is the man! He not only helped me with any and all of my questions reguarding my new pump, but has gone outta his way on several occasions to answer questions of mine that are not even hpop related, but just my truck in general. Best customer service, hands down that I have ever recieved!
Ok now my question, I know alot of people have been running the 203* Tstat, but does anyone have any experience with a 180* one? I live in Fl, and was thinking that raising the temps wouldn't be such a good idea, but I dont know, just looking for others opinions. thanks in advance |

honestly the diel runs better at hotter temps the diesel combusts easier which is making the motor work easier some sort. my clinmate is very hot and i go to az and mexico at times the 203* is the way to go imo and by using it first hand, my truck works hard and it doesnt ever overheat with a good water pump and a new 203* thermostat you can gain 1 to 2 mpg and a noticable difference in the truck and the way it runs/feels, if your lower the temps it would do the opposite.? anyways heres a bump for any PROFESSIONAL advice! cant wait to get my term modded 17*

It has been stated that IH designed this engine to run with the 203 stat. Some Ford goober must be responsible for the drop to 195 or whatever the OEM puts in. Just like Ford screwed up the CCV system and also the top radiator hose routing THROUGH the freaking belt!

Only difference with the 203 is the fan comes on sooner which can't be helping mileage. I might try the 180 if I don't go back to stock on my next flush.
