What is this for?

Here is a picture of a plug that I think is for the foglights my truck doesn't have? Can anyone confirm that is the case?

Do they go bad often? My overhead display works for mileage etc but it always shows -40 for the temp. Wondering if it is the sensor not the overhead?

They do go bad and if everything else works in the overhead then I doubt that is the problem. I don't know if the sensor can be checked, but I suspect it's bad.

The plug for the fog lamps is usually under the driver's side battery box. If it has the plug.
