Question Keyless Entry..

Now i know i have posted on this before but i have done some thinking and maybe someone can help me... here goes: Are all the trucks equipped with the module that controls Keyless Entry or can i just go to the dealership and get a factory module? i had my fiancee try the turn the key 8 times deal and on the 8th turn nothing happened. now i take it that i do not have keyless entry but i would really like this option. i do have power locks. can anybody help? thanks in advance...

i believe you have to get a module and the remotes. not sure about every truck being equipped, i think its an option. call up the dealership and see. it may be cheaper to go to an aftermarket shop to see about an alarm or just keyless entry.

I tried the key turning thing, and it worked on my truck, an XLT w/ power, my cousin had 99 XLT with power and tried the turning key trick and his didn't do it, to double check I called the dealer and talked to a parts guy about getting replacement remotes and he ran the VIN's and mine had it and his didn't. So as far as I know the trick works. I would go aftermarket, Ford wants more than an arm and a leg, plus if you go aftermarket you could get a real alarm sys. for the same price as Ford, and save some $ on your insurance IMO.

The trick is to tell if your truck has keyless entry installed. Its actually a way to program the key fobs. I don't remember it 100% but its something like: unlock your truck using the key, get in, lock the doors using power, put the key in the ignition and turn it to ACC, as you would for the wait to start, BUT you turn it off then on then off....etc. you do this 8 times relatively fast, 1/2 sec-1 sec per cycle. If your truck has keyless the door locks will cycle unlock-lock after the 8th key cycle. I think thats how it goes, 95% sure. It was a long time ago when I did it. Its actually a programming step, if you have a keyfob you want to program you can do it this way...somehow... and save not going to the dealer, I had a buddy who was a lock smith that programmed mine so I don't know how its done.

That's pretty much the procedure, except you start with the doors unlocked...If you get a remote, press the unlock key after the cycle and it'll be programmed.

I got one from eBay for $5 and got keyless entry...

Press the unlock and lock button on your door panel 8 times then your doors will lock and then unlock and within 10 sec. press the unlock and lock on your key fob. Your key fob should now work.

I suppose the next thing would be to ask whats the best aftermarket Keyless entry/Alarm (i want Keyless entry, alarm would just be x-tra) system that is available. I want good Quality, not necessarily the most expensive.
