Fill Up Level.....4 extra gallons

Went to fill the Super Duty on Tuesday evening. Started with about 1/2 tankin the truck. While filling, the pump clicked off at about 13.3 gallons put into the truck. I began to slowly put more fuel in and before I knew it, I had added about 4.5 more gallons, bringing the total to a little over 18 gallons. I had so much in the tank by the time I noticed to stop that the fuel was almost coming out of the filler tube I had to let it idle a bit so I could have some room in the tank to put fuel additive in.

This really makes me want to do the Hutch and Harpoon Mod sooner than later!

This is what we mean when we all say FILL YOUR TRUCK UP ALL THE WAY. You cannot get an accurate MPG without doing this.

It's stupid how much it foams.... i don't think I have ever added less than 2 gallons after it clicks off.... I take my time filling it up for this reason. It takes forever...but you get a more-accurate reading that way.

Agreed. I've seen this mod mentioned before but don't know what it actually involves

You don't add it before fueling, so that it mixes in?

Hutch Mod is the modification of the fuel pick up system. From what I have read, the stock pick up system has some flaws that create air in fuel lines and thus creating a cackle in the engine. The harpoon mod is basically just the cutting of two vent pipes which extend into the tank - this prevents the foam from entering into the neck allowing you to fill up the tank full everytime without it clicking off. Guzzle has a good description of each here: Welcome to guzzle's In-tank Hutch Mod Web Page I know this isn't the only description - there are more out there for tips.

How do you know how much to put in before you fill up? I figure it mixes up from the sloshing around in the tank as you drive around.
