AMP DRAW
Does anyone know what kind of draw these trucks have key off? I'm trying to troubleshoot some battery issues. ALT is charging no problems, just looking for a common figure for Amperage coming out of the batteries with the truck off. Did some searching, found less than half an amp on a 6.0, but no joy on a 7.3.
Thanks in advance guys. |

As I remember, what I did was to disconnect only One of the Pos terminals. I then reconnected the post and cable through the Multi-Meter, in a milliamps setting, BUT the meter had a 300mA max (it MAXED it).
What I found was that I had to leave everything alone for a 1/2hr or more for it to settle down to a constant level (IIRC- under 100mA). It took that long, for things to shut-down, after turning the key, opening a door, or reconnecting the battery. So, it's hard to actually know what the "static" draw is unless you're patient ![]() I'd say, don't be surprised if it's initially 500mA but, given time, you should see it to something lower than 100mA (at least from the way I did it, and on My truck.....) |
