I do mine every 3k miles with an oil change. Takes 5 mins after you've done them a few times, its cheap insurance.

Can you tell me where the filter is located. I have read that it is under the hood, but if you could be a little bit more spefic that would be great, also are there any special tools needed to replace the filter?

My problem is my dad's truck 1999 F250 7.3L needs the filter change and he lives out in the middle of know where, I was out there yesterday didn't seem to see it, of course I didn't have a filter with me so when I head back out I want to be prepared!

Thanks for your help!

Pop the hood, look under the black powerstroke cover. You'll see a round metal cylinder with a black plastic screw on cover.

I ended up needing an adjustable oil filter wrench to get mine, however if you still have an OEM oil filter lid, theres a 21 dollar tool to take off the lid with a 3/8" drive. Its on there pretty tight, you'll need something which can clamp to unscrew the lid.

I pay 20 for the 6.0 fuel filters and paid less for the 7.3 filter.

the red circled thing is the fuel filter. I just used a big pair of vise grips on the OEM top and got one of the AM oens that use the Extension and I ratched takes maybe 10 min very easy

strap wrench works much better than vise grips. Less damage to the cap

It's all good trey If you don't have a strap wrench also a large oilfilter wrench will fit around it also.

Good team trey
