Cold start fixed $25. 2002 EX 7.3 EOT sensor
I changed the oil in the HPOP and the EOT Sensor. Presto. Started right up. 1st glow, 20 seconds. Nice puff of gray smoke for 15 seconds. All is good. Check engine light still on. #8 glow plug wire is loose or no good. Ran the codes from a $95.00 pep boys scanner. Lesson to be learned. Before you start swapping expensive parts like glow plugs, valve cover gaskets GPCM's and GPR's check the basics. My EOT was NG and was telling the PCM that the engine was hot, even when it was -10.
Good rule of thumb: When you change the oil, do it hot, let it drain for 20 minutes, and suck a quart out of the HPOP and replace slowly with a small funnel.
