Front mount hitch
I have searched everywhere on here and cant find any info on a front mount hitch. I have found two different one available for my truck. I have a 2002 F350 and just want to get the correct one. Curt makes a 31014 and a 31114. The 31014 indicates with blocker beam and the 31114 indicated with blocker beam. Here it is, what the heck is the BLOCKER BEAM
and do I have one ? I cant find a strait answer. .... thx for your help. If anyone has a front hitch I would love some pics and suggestions. |

The blocker beam.... If I am correct... is the piece of metal (Heavy) in the front of the frame behind the bumper. I know mine was removed when the plow was installed.... So I am assuming thats what they are refering to.
I can take a pic if wanted...its sitting in the garage. |

I took mine off when I put my shackel/hanger lift on. It's literally a heavy thick piece of square bar that is right behind the plastic lower valance piece on your front bumper.

Hmm... blocker beam. Not sure every truck has one... or alot of the ones I've looked at have been removed... Know for a fact my trucks don't have a 'blocker beam'. However, a bumper of massive proportions will soon be made to deal with this issue... x4. One for each of my trucks, and at least 2 more for a friend... I'm gonna make and save all the templates. The idea of a Reese style receiver hitch has been on my mind, but might be just as happy with an easy to use large tow ring. Still working out design and best structual fitment, but ranch hand style pipe and tread plate fillers is the plan. I'll post picures when it happens...

Thx for all the info, turns out I have a blocker beam. Whether I delete it when I do the front hitch is unknown. Ill post up some picks and a small write up on the install incase someone else is interested. Thx again.
Nice truck Matt, did you add those cab lights? |

Its there to help preven front end dammage and keep cars from going under you. If you have had anythign added to the front end, push bumper, plow hooks, tow hitch, etc, it has probably been removed.
