really need wiring help! Help! no trailer light!

Ok I let my buddy borrow my 7.3 for the weekend to pull our 18' dovetail with a 76 IH Scout on it. By the way I got his minivan, awesome I know!

Here's the problem we hooked up the trailer and plugged in the trailer to the 7 pin adapter that came with the truck attached to the bumper, but DOH! no wires from the back of the adapter to the harness behind (the one that is grey with red center.) I need to know what to get to make the trailer light work and brakes. Need help fast he is leaving tommorow!!

e-mail if you'd like : jasonzbtzl@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance!

So your saying you have the 7 pin plug mounted on the truck, but no wires connected?

yep the 7 pin connector is there, but no wires from the back of it to the bundle behind it. Above poster, don't think there are any wires in the bed.

Looks like I need a pigtail or something that goes from back of the 7pin adapter to the bundle hanging up behind.

Otherwise here is some diagrams to help if you want to tackle wireing it yourself, but you should be able to hit a parts store in the moring and get a plug and play per say harness. Trailer Wiring

what info would you like I am sitting here with a wiring diagram and manual for 1999-2002 Ford Super Duties and excursions.

If you need the info on which wire does what in the harness so you can make your own harness let me know and I will post it up for you.

vitalidle - Thanks that's exactly the part I was thinking of, do you know if a national chain, autozone, napa,etc.. would carry that? or would it be advised to just go to a Ford dealership and get one from parts dept.?

My buddy has to figure it out early tommorow so he can leave to Colorado, to go to an International Harvester Roundup.

I feel horrible that I did not notice it before he picked up the truck and trailer today.

Yeah go to autozone or any other comparable parts store before you go to the dealer. They will have what you need and cheaper most likely

Thanks a lot guys, you guys have been a big help. This forum is great! It's so far been as good as the Binder Bulletin a board for International Harvester vehicles.

Thanks Again!
