Does that mean anything to any of you and how hard would either of those two things be to fix, I am a fair mechanic but a rookie at diesels.
very doubtful its a valve cover , more than likely the turbo pedestal leaking , they arent to bad to do

Like Scuffy said possible the turbo pedastal. But there is also a brass fitting on the passenger side valve cover that has an o-ring seal. The brass fitting is easily removed with a 5/8 open end wrench. The o-ring cost 2 dollars at a dealer. I had this brass fitting leaking oil for 2 months before I could find it.

The fitting is a plug for I believe the HPOP system. It is on the passenger side valve cover back by the exhaust side of the turbo. Maybe it is loose and needs to be snugged down or that O-ring replaced.

Well now the investigative work begins. Check the valley of the motor between the heads and see if there is any oil laying up there. If there is, is it in the front or the back. If its in the back by the turbo most likely its a turbo pedestal oring or the seal on the actuating arm for the ebpv. If its up front its probobly from the hpop.
