Trans flush ?'s
From what I have read it seems that unless your TC has a drain plug on it, its a better idea to go someplace and have them do a flush. Is there any way to know if the TC will have a drain plug, by year or VIN. Just double checking the 4R100 is supposed ot have DextronIII/Mercon only? (or comparable synthetic)
Also what kind of fluid should I put in the rears? capacity? Is there a gasket or anything I would need to replace when I take them apart? Thanks |

There is a procedure to change the fluid in the TQ converter with out a drain plug. You can do a search or some one will be along to answer, I am not sure where I read it. Also you can use mercron v in the 1998 and newer trans up to I think 07 or 08

I have a writeup in my webshots. I don't know how far away you are but if you're not comfortable doing it yourself you can bring her down and we'll get her squared away.

This is a writeup that my camera Effed u on... so if you want to come by, so we can do a video writeup that'd be great. You'll need a few basic tools, the pan has a reuseable gasket, the NEW mercon V is supposed to be 4r100 compatible however I don't want to trust that so when I did my fluid change I found some good ole mercon/dextron III. You can find out if the TQ Drain plug is present by removing the inspection plate and then reaching up and all around hte TC. You'll see a pic of one in my webshots. Any other questions let me know. |
