no, the engine doesn't cut out. granted that did happen before the dealership did the CPS replacement per the recall. The engine used to die in the middle of driving and i'd have to switch to nuetral and restart it while cruising. This is different. I'll be driving down the road, happens at any speed, cruising along and it's like someone clipped the wire from the accelerator module. Engines running but i have do pedal. I have to take my foot completely off the pedal and depress it again for the truck to accelerate. Sometimes it'll happen 5-10 times in a row, making it very annoying, and also dangerous, especially when trying to pull out into traffic. So since this truck is drive by wire i thought it could be the module attached to the accelerator, cause when my CPS was bad the engine would just die, it doesn't die now i just lose the pedal. Really annoying problem i can't figure out and i don't want to start throwing money at parts that don't need to be replaced

I had the same problem and tried everything I could think of to fix it, nothing and nobody seemed to be able to find the problem. One day My computer crapped out completely and I took to the Ford dealer, what they found was a short in the computer wire harness that was probably causing they hesitation while driving and eventually burned out the computer. haven't had a repeat of that problem for two years now.

throttle position sensor, i tapped into mine for my hi idle mod and you will get the check engine light and loss of pedal if its faulty but it should have given you a code, but needless to say a throttle position sensor isn't that expensive i would definately try that

where exactly is the TPS on a diesel, wasn't aware it had one, i thought it was all controled by the accelerator pedal module

the tps is on the accelerator pedal. you can buy a tps from schucks or auto zone for about 70$. i bought on from schucks and it seemed to make it worse. im saving for the entire pedal assembly that's 325$ from ford. for sensors and such on these trucks you want to stay away from part stores and go straight to ford for them. ford doesn't just sell the tps which is why its so much. you are paying for the whole assembly. my truck has been having the same problems that yours sound like but mine threw a code for faulty tps.
