How do i find out a PCM Code

A buddy of mine has a 2001 f250...we were trying to find out his pcm code for his chip... he doesnt have the black cover that was on the cumputer anymore

Did you take the plug off the PCM and pull it out of the truck? It is on the engine compartment side of the PCM.

he put a chip on it and when he took it off he didnt have the plug or papers for the chip

Get a mirror & a flashlite look on the part of the pcm that sticks through the firewall. It's a PIA but you'll see it under the master cylinder on the drivers side of the part where the big plug with the bolt attaches to the PCM
