Coolant filter installed!

Well I finally got the time to install my dieselsite coolant filter and billet housing and I will say I am impressed. Great kit for the bucks. I had a couple of leaks around the valves where they connect to the filter housing, but I just tightened them down and the leaks stopped. I just didn't want to overtighten when I first did it. It's a tight fit with the ambulance upper rad hose but manageable. I just have to squeeze the hose a little bit to clear the filter when I change it.

So I'm going to watch for it to stop/slow down flowing when it gets clogged up - how long is that going to take?

I used a ford thermostat, a tiny bit of black rtv on the waterpump surface and bought new 10mm bolts from autozone. <Dorman part No. 980-220 and have a flanged 10mm head> Torqued them to 18 lb ft a bit at a time, and so far so good. No leaks. **** yeah!

Interesting...I thought this was really only necessary on 6.0s as there was a bunch of sand from the castings ?

Any pics ?

I ended up doing the filter after I had a water pump go bad after only 30,000 miles. I replaced the pump and hope it's the last time. I can dig up a pic later when I get home from work. It's a nice kit. I can't wait to cut a filter open in a month or two and see what is in there.
