My DIY Intake
Been done a few weeks now. Hardest part was finding the 4" pipe, which wasn't that hard. Got the AEM Cone filter from Advance for less than $50, 4" was $7 and clamp a couple bucks. Sprayed the pipe with a good thick coat of flat black rust reformer paint and Bob's your uncle.
P.S. I know she dirty but it's a work truck, and I've been so busy doin other things to her, the fine detailing has been neglected. ![]()

Ok... air can get in, but can it get out? Time for some straight pipe!!! I just did the red truck... was plannin' on waiting, but couldn't make myself...

Well I thought about that, and reading your post from earlier, I almost got the sawzall and welder out, but I figured until I get a few more long trips under my belt to see how the drone is, I'm going to hold off on the straight pipe. Luckily since my truck is a 550, there's no cat, so my flow isn't restricted as most. For just stock tuning and the DIY intake, the 3.5" exhaust isn't restricting my flow.

Nope, 3.5" isn't, but the 2.5" neckdown on the muffler will... whole system is 3.5", but just inside the muffler, it necks down. You'll see when you cut yours off... and you should...
I haven't noticed any annoying drone, or other issues noise-wise. Aside from riding around with the pass. side window down to hear that awesome turbo whistle!!! With the windows up, no diffrence that I can tell... |
