Sounds Great!

Well I finally did SOMETHING to my exhaust.
It already had no cat, so I decided to straight pipe it yesterday.
It only took me about 1 1/2 hrs.(AT LEAST half of that time was spent staring at the truck with my Sawzall in my hand trying to decide if I REALLY wanted to do this).
The answer is yes!
Anybody who is looking for a real cheap exhaust mod, I definitly recommend this. I couldn't afford a new exhaust system, so this is what I did.

3' of 3.5" galvanized flex exhaust pipe- $12
2 3.5" exhaust band clamps- $20
1 new exhaust hanger- $6.50
The look on my neighbors face when I first started it up- priceless!

The throttle response is waaaaay better, no lag at all. Oh yeah and it sounds wicked awesome! Don't know what it did to my EGT's or my MPG's, but so far, well worth it!

I'm real glad I did it.
The last truck I had that I had straight pipes on was my 93 F-250 Diesel. That truck was a 5 speed. Man, get into a tunnel at about 35mph and downshift into 2nd, it sounded like the baddest jake brake you ever heard.


This automatic still sounds pretty good though!

I did this like 2 years ago. I finally got my 4 inch straight pipe exhaust. It is not on yet but it will be installed this weekend.

Those old 7.3's were about as loud as you could get. I had a 90 7.3 5sp in high school with true dual straights and 3 foot long 6 inch tips.(took a six inch stack and cut it in half and welded it up ) My brother still reminds me of when I was hauling cattle with it and they were all crammed at the back of the trailer trying to get away from it.
