Fuel heater needed?

I have a buddy who has a 99 and the fuel heater wire thing (inside the bowl) is busted loose.

Question is does he even need the fuel heater? we are in central Texas so winter is really not an issue.

thanks

Most likely don't need it in Texas but you can pick up a new one up from rock auto for about $25.

I am in Michigan and when mine popped the fuse I just unplugged it and haven't needed it yet. (knock on wood) I should replace it if it only runs $25.

No need for the fuel bowl heater anywhere IMHO. The volume of fuel it would heat when it works is too small.

I dont even have a fuel bowl, and have no issues down to -20.
