i need some questions answered

these might be dumb questions but i need to know to solve my problem. what does the wastegate do and what does it sound like when the exaust back pressure valve is activated?

The wastegate is just what is sounds like. Its a tiny gate that opens and excess boost pressure is blown out of it, thus wasting it. Its meant to keep from overboosting the motor.

The EBPV sounds a lot like a huge HVAC fan. Sounds kinda like a jake brake on the intake side, and just a loud *** hiss on the exhaust side.

would that loud hissin sound, sound like a squeel kind of sound as well at about 2500 rpm in boost?

If the EBPV is oberating on factory settings, it won't activate if your building boost because the turbo practically stops spinning when it closes. Your prolly hearing either the wastegate or vacuum accuator thing.
