Exhaust?
I've got an 02 F-250 with the 7.3, had it about a month and its bone stock except for gauges, I've got a friend that gave me his SCT X3 for my birthday that was locked, I payed the $65 to get the thing unlocked, but haven't installed a tune on the truck yet, my question is, if I plan on getting a 90 Hp tune to put on the programmer, then on the truck would I be Ok with the stock exhaust, since my truck is a non-catalyst truck? or does the extra inch in diameter make that much of a difference? And I don't plan on using the truck for racing or driving it excessively hard, just for the drive to work and occasionally pulling a 12' enclosed trailer.

You can get away with it, just watch your EGT's.

cut the muffler out.. your good for 400HP proven, 4" will give you a slight drop in EGT's and a deeper rumble.
Your EGTS should stay at about 1250 at the manifold..1300-1400 dont play in there too long, crap can melt... |

Ok, I've got my EGT probe in my down pipe about an inch off the turbo, do you know what they should be there?

900 or so max i think? either way plug that and move your probe into the manifold, way more accurate.

Yeah, what they said.
Deff move the EGT probe. The DIY intake is the first thing I would do. I'll prove that in a few days when I take ownership of a E'99 F250... If you don't like the straight piped sound, some have had good luck with the Walker brand BTM, or Big Truck Muffler... will keep the sound down, but it's 3.5" straight thru... |
