Transmission swap question.
I'm putting a transmission from a 2000 E350 in my truck and there are some differences at the back end I need help with. Main problem is the outside diameter of the truck driveshaft is bigger than that on the van. the inside diameter and the splines all fit fine. So just swap extension housings right? wrong.
The van uses the mechanical speedo and the truck has the sensor style. So the output shafts are totally different, meaning i can't just take the stuff off one to make the other work without changing the whole output shaft.... So my question is, how hard would it be to swap the output shafts? My other option is to mix match the truck and van driveshafts but i'd rather use the heavier shaft from the truck. God I wish I could just afford a BTS swap. |

Nothing? I put it back together because I have to get back on the road, so my GPS will be my speedo and milage tracker for a bit till I get the other trans rebuilt.

So what I thought was the speed sensor isn't. I think it's called the output shaft sensor or something. Anyway, it's plugged in but obviously not working and it's causing my OD light to blink. Does anyone know how to get that big gear off the output shaft, or how hard it would be to get the output shaft out?

I would check the drivetrain/transmission problems section, maybe ask FORDNUTZ, I think he rebuilds a lot of trans.
