swapping some parts?

ok im not sure about this but i have 01 350 7.3 tranny is gone dont have the money right now to replace but i can get a 96 psd with a 5 speed i know i would have to make some mods like put in a pedal and driveshaft maybe a crossmember but i was wondering if they will even bolt together ? and as far the motors would i be able to use anything off the 96 on the 01 thinkin about having the motor freshened up and put in the 01 if its possible?
