How often do you change your oil?

Just curious what oil everyone uses in their 7.3 and after how many miles do you change your oil?

i change mine every 3-4k. some oil companies recommend every 3k miles or 3 months but i do mine every 3k. some synthetic oils say you can go 6k or even more than that. my truck starts to run rough when it needs an oil change.

They make Synthetic oils for diesels? I didn't see any today when i was in the auto parts store.
My truck was a quart low, so i got some Delo400 15-40

I use Shell Rotella T 15w40, change it every 3k. I know I could probabaly go longer, but with 203k miles and my heavy-footed driving style, it's best to keep fresh oil in it IMO

i use delo400 15w/40 and nothing else. thats just what i use. and yes they make synthetic diesel oils. i used to work for a chevy dealer (realized how much the duramax sucked so i bought a powerstroke) and we did sell a mobil 1 synthetic 5w/40. and mobil 1 told us that you could go up to 12k on this oil. not me. i got every 3k. and what some people dont know is that the molecules in the oil will break down over time and not lubricate as well as it is supposed to. thats why the oil companies recommend 3k or 3 months.

I use Mobil 1 is all my race cars/4wheelers. That's good to know they make a diesel oil maybe i'll use that. So sounds like everyone changes their oil every 3k. Anyone with synethetic go longer?

theres alotta guys going 5k+ or more on synthetic(more than 5K they have a bypass system though.. gotta change that filter!!) anyway i do 3k-4k max with dyno oil(running CI4 grade oil right now, ha ha yes very hard to get but the truck likes it way better than the new CJ4 standard, she purrs like a kitten starting in the 30's. not near as loud as with the delo i was running.

I'm an Amsoil guy myself. I run 15W 40 in the summer, and 5W 40 in the winter. I usually change it about every 7,500 miles or so.

Blackstone Labs tells me 5200, I go 5200. 3-4 oil changes a year is enough to make me feel secure. Of course the fact that the big hoss is sittin at 381k miles makes me comfortable too
