High mileage?
I'm looking at a 2002 crew cab 4x4 with 215,000 on the clock. Owner says it's in great shape and all maint. has been kept up to date. Looks like new. I want the truck to tow a 10,000 # 5th wheel and I plan to keep the truck. I put about 10k / year on a truck. Would this be a good vehicle for my use on into the future? Thanks for your help.

The mileage alone shouldn't be anything to worry about, that's about what mine has on it, the key is previous maintnance... For real opionions tho, would be nice to know what options the truck has, and what dollor figures you're talking, if you want to know if people think it's a 'good deal'. That mileage, with the body beat up or rusty, seats torn, non working a/c, etc, and you better get that truck for a song. However, if it's like new inside and out, and not looking at alot of 'nickle and dime' stuff like brakse, u-joints, ball joints, etc, then it would be worth much more...
If the truck is auto, the trans is suspect... ask if it's been replaced/rebuilt, with that mileage, it likely will have been... if you're gonna tow, add a trans cooler, and trans temp gauge for sure... but the truck should be up to towing what you're asking, a dually would be best... |
