forged or pmr rods
how can you tell if you have forged rods i have a 2001 build date 3/01 i know you can look at the valve cover but where on th evalve cover all i could find was the orange label thing

engine serial number, somewhere on here is a serial number list for pmr vs forged, also there is an inspection plug that can be removed to check the rod cap bolts, they are different.

where is the engine sereal located is is that orange sticker on the vavle cover on the passenger side?

IIRC any built before 05/01 are forged.

Mine is Jan of 2001 and its PMR.

My truck was built 2/01 and the build date on the motor is 11/21/00, I have PMRs. To make 100% sure you need to look through the inspection plug on the driver side of the motor, you'll need a piece of 5/16 key stock to take the plug out. The plug is to the right of the oil cooler just above the oil pan. Look through the hole and if you see bolt heads on the connecting rods you have PMRs, if you see nuts you have forged.

found out i have powdered
oo well ill just replace them when i need to rebuild the tranny i need a new oil pan so i might as well go all out anything other things on this eneing ehtat need to be beefed up or can make it ore relialbe

Of course, I go to get the engine serial number and the sticker is just white from the heat. Now I got to take the dang plug out.

unless you are pushing over 400hp i wouldnt worry much.
