Anyone running a GV Overdrive?
Wondering if anyone out there is running a Gearvendors overdrive unit. I want to get one. My biggest issue is weither or not its gonna be able to take the torque when I upgrade my injectors and such. I have a 99.5 with a zf6. Have somethings done to it, basically set up for big oil and larger sticks.

From what I've heard they are wirth the money. There is a guy in diesel power get 28mpg with his 7.3. I just don't wanna spend 3200 only to have it grenade on me. I know gear vendor is a good name but.... know what I mean? I personally don't know much about them.

Got a GV in my stock '03 dually, aerodynamics starts to take over at 60-65 and the mileage doesn't really improve past 19+/- but takes about 500 rpm off the top and really quiets down on long hauls. 4.10 rear and 4x4 also, around the lowers speeds 50-65 regularly 20-22 mpg. Also, leave it in the "Auto" setting and use the "dimmer" switch to kick it in around 50-55. If you let it shift in by itself it will slam so hard, you'll be looking in the mirror, thinking some of your driveline just took a dump.

Auto matic I take it? Mine is a 6 speed. Or are you talking about the 2 speed? 500 off the top will put me about 1750 with the 273s, which is what I'm looking for. So at like 65 your saying the motor is working a bit? Mine is chipped. Idm modded, wastegate actuator changed. Running about 31 to 32 lbs. Regulated return with twin pumps. Soon to have a mild propane system on it. ( constant slow not shot) 25 to 35 ponies. She is pretty much setup for hpop and sticks. Thinking about some 238 hybrids. Not sure about hpop yet. I'm impressed by the 19 degree adrenaline, but not 100% yet.

Yep, mine's an auto, '03. The nice part was pulling a trailer with 19 round bales, locking out the overdrive, then GV'ing the third gear, got 14mpg in that mode. When shifting the OD in with the GV, just like you're shifting the manual trans, just let off the fuel, and click the switch like you're doing a regular gear change.
