annoying knock

hey everyone i own a early 99 7.3l powerstroke it has approximately 164k miles on it and I change the oil every 3 to 4K miles. I have a dp tuner (no codes tunes), a gillett diesel compressor upgraded turbo, terminator pump, hpx, triple disc torque converter, shift kit, afe stage 2, 4 inch exhaust, aem water methanol. I have the most annoying knocking noise coming from my motor. It doesn't knock when cold and only can be heard once the truck has warmed up. also I notice a little blue smoke but it only appears when i put a heavy foot down on the throttle and not on normal acceleration or idle. Can anyone help me? this is driving me up the wall. I have theories of what it could be worn injector o-rings. I had a air/contribution test and the truck passed, I did the oil cap test and it didn't blow off, there was no pooling in the intake pipe, theres no noticeable loss in power. PLEASE HELP!!!

Do early 99's get the idle knock?? I know the later 7.3's can get it and the fix
was to add the LL injector in #8..... Mine did it a few times, sure glad it went
away (mostly).

I have a early 99 so i know i don't have a LL injector for my number 8. I do know that my truck only started making the knocking noise in the last 5k miles.

My Little Knock

I had a knock after the engine warmed up, and blue smoke at start up, it turned out to be a worn cylinder in #8, the piston ring groove broke causing the piston to knock.
This may not be your problem but to check get a cheap compression gauge from Harbor Freight and check the compression on the cylinders, #8 is the worst cylinder to wear on the 7.3's

Hope this helps

Paul

i sure hope the piston ring groove didn't brake... I can't afford a fix for that right now. my truck doesn't blow blue smoke at start-up and it doesn't have above normal blow by (oil cap test, and compared to other 7.3l powerstrokes) it only blows blue smoke when the truck is reved up. the blue smoke is more noticeable when my dp tuner is on the higher settings. The smoke comes out black and when its disipating it has a slight blue tint to it.
