08 tailgate camera wiring help

ok i have an 08 style tailgate with the camera in the handle. i just got the pioneer 3200 dvd double din screen and would like to use the camera. the unit has a rear camera input (1) in the back. the wires coming off the handle join together in some sort of plug. i know i will have to cut it, but the problem i am having is identifying what the wires actually are. there are six of them.

actually i think you need the camera wiring harness from ford. i believe it even has a male rca end to plug right in. maybe try contacting ANT250 on PowerstrokeNation.com ..he walked me through this same thing, but i did it in conjuction with the rear view camera so the wiring was much more intricate.

I just got the avh-p4200dvd - arriving tomorrow. It's similar to your unit. Any tips to installing these double din units into our dash?

Also let me know how you go with that rear camera. I was going to get this one from Pioneer: Pioneer ND-BC4 - High Sensitivity Universal Rear View Backup Camera for Select Pioneer Receivers and Others

But if your 08 tailgate works with that system, then I'll consider getting the same tailgate because it probably integrates better into the rear of the truck.

I just picked upa 2010 tailgate with camera... and am planning on putting a DVD player in my truck in the coming months, It would kind of be nice to use that thing!

So, I'm mainly posting so I can find this thread when the time comes and to see what you guys come up with. If not I'll do some research. I should probably go wrap the end of the camera plug onthe tailgate with some electrical tape for now...

Yeah! I agree that you needed a camera wiring harness. This might be troublesome so you better have an expert checking your tailgate.
