Block Heater
I am going to be plugging mine in for the first time to an outlet that is a little suspect is there a way to tell if it is working right away?

Not exactly right away, but within a few minutes you should be able to feel some warmth (on a cold engine) right where the cord enters the block (above the oil filter)

is it the outlet on the wall or the plug on the truck?
if its the wall just plug a light into it if its the plug on the truck take an ohm meter & check the resistance |

It is the plug on the wall, I'm using one that is on the side of the covered parking spot in my complex lol so I don't have to pay for the electricity nor do I have to run a 50ft ext cord. I plugged my phone charger into it and it seemed to light up so hoping it will work.
