Remote Start
Does Ford offer a remote start for the 7.3? Or is aftermarket the only way to go?
If not I'm looking at the Viper 5301 anyway, although none of these companies like to say if it will work with a diesel (cycle glow plugs). Last edited by Austin G; 11-14-2010 at 10:36 PM. |

I'm going to ask the dealer what the ford system costs. But viper doesn't seem very expensive. The 5301 is a 2-way system.

ANYTHING you buy from DEI (such as the Viper) will have great quality and support....

Well it seems no place around here is a viper dealer. But allot sell Clifford. So now I am looking at the Clifford 1.3x.

my AVITAL keyless entry, alarm, turbo timer, and remote start works perfect
allows plenty of time for the plugs to warm up! |

Any quality remote start will be diesel ready. They will either have an input for the wait to start light, or a timer, or both.

I have always had a DEI product with good luck. I have a clifford in my expidition with remote start and after two years it is working great. In truck in sig about three months ago had an Autopage with remote start put in. So far I really like it. It had a lot of nice features like turbo timer. The remote start works off the glow plug relay so it won't start until the computer tells the alarm its ready. It has not been cold but right now it takes about 10secs when its cold and maybe 5 when its warm.
