10k resistor mod quick help plz

ok went to radio shack picked up some resistors now then the video is good but im having a brain fart, do i use 1 resistor and bend each end and hold agaisnt the plug or do i put the resistor in the sopt where it plugs in? also do i use a 1/2 or 1/4 resestor?

all of it and in the pigtail side. I ran mine for about one tank and took it out not worth the MPG VS HP.
