quiet turbo?
My 2002 turbo isn't audible until I'm over 2000 rpm and even then it's very quiet. Is that normal for them or is mine slacking off? I test drove a 99 a couple years ago and there was no mistaking it, but the engine noise was also considerably louder in the cab.

I have been having that problem to. I noticed an oil leak coming from the top rear of the motor and dripping down both sides to the oil pan. My turbo isn't noticeable until 2000 rpms, but I am also idleing rough and burning much more fuel than usual. I have Banks ram air intake and banks ram air intake manifold and straight pipe. No smoke, loss of power during acceleration but when I hit highway speed it runs fine. Oil pressure and engine temps are fine though. It's a 2004 6.0 with just over 113k.

An intake and free-flowing exhaust will really wake that turbo up if you haven't already done those. Hell when my '96 was stock, I couldn't hear the turbo at all unless I was in the pedal and past like 2200 RPM lol. Now with the intake, 3" downpipe and straight exhaust I can hear it about a second after I hit the go pedal.

I have the s&b intake and mbrp turbo back exhaust with a muffler on my 02 excursion. The whistle from turbo out the pipe was great.I now have a 38r turbo on and don't hear it out of the pipe but always hear it now in the cab.
