Dunno what your pickup has for restraint stuff, but when I got my pickup, the switch in the seatbelt buckle that tells if you have it on was bad, so the dinger would go off whether I had the belt on or not. In my work pickups, I've always disconnected the connector going to the seat belt buckle to disable the alarm, so I tried it on my pickup. Unplugged the wires going to the buckle, and then my air bag light would come on in addition to the seatbelt dinger. Looked into it again, and I figured out that the seat belt buckle has a retractor built into it, made to work in conjunction with the air bag system. Plugged it back in, fished around for the right connector to make the dinger shut off, and everything was fine.

Now, no idea when they started putting those retractor systems in, mine's an '03. Also, no idea what code mine was throwing since I didn't have a reader yet.
