Intercooler questions

I have a chance to pick up an 02 F550 intercooler for cheap, and already bought an 03 6.0 intercooler. What is the better intercooler? I may go back and pick up the F550 ic for the hell of it. The F550 ic has no plastic side tanks and is all aluminum I think. Will it bolt right in like the 6.0? Should I use that one instead of the 6.0 on my 01 7.3? Thanks Vic

I assume your intercooling an OBS (94-97) truck?..


You wont see enough difference to notice between the two coolers. I've heard alot of members that have 7.3's say it isnt worth the money to switch from a 7.3 to a 6.0 cooler.

No I have an 01 7.3 diesel truck. I picked up the intercooler for really cheap and I need to replace the silicone tubes so I figured what the hell, might as well get the intercooler and put it in when I do the tubes. I dont know anything about the F550 ic. I was wondering if it was worth picking up and using and selling the 6.0 ic.

It isnt worth the trouble of switching to the 6.0 cooler. Besides, yours should have aluminum end tanks

Yeah my 7.3 ic does have aluminum end tanks. Ok, thanks for the info.
