doing a contribution test???
When doing the contribution test, is anything supposed to happen? Let me explain, I got my hands on a snap on older brick scan diagnostic tool.(my bosses) It works on my truck.(we dont use it much, quite often it does not read the customers car) Anyway, I did the buzz test and hear the noises as its supposed to. I then did the contribution test, the machine read if no results in 2 minutes see some appendix or call for help. I got results p0541 air intake heater. (i unplugged and removed it) So thats fine. I did not know if I should hear any noises or if the motor should run funny while the cylinders were being tested. Is this correct? Should i just get an injector code if one is bad? This is to old a machine to give me graphs or anything. It did state run the test when the motor is up to temp. I thought i was told on here from a tech try it cold in the am cause thats when i think my weak injector causes a driving vibration.
any imput appreciated |

from what i have heard is should create 8 misses. testing each cylinder for power contribution. shutting each one down to see how much it contributes to the idle. if i am wrong someone correct me.

It wont sound different on a late 99 and up 7.3l. Does it run the test for a minute or two before coming back with the intake heater code or does it stop immediately? Some codes will keep the contribution test from running but on 99 and up the contribution test on Snap On scanners don't have 8 misses like on OBS
