diagnostic tool help, info needed
I was talking with my snap on dealer today.
There best diagnostic piece is the verus($9k), then the modus($8k), then a solus pro which is 4k. Will the solus do what i need to diagnose all the possible issues with the powerstroke 7.3 and the newer 6.0 and 6.4's. I know a lot talk about AE software. But can someone tell me which snap on scanner will work? I am hoping solus pro. thx ps i know theres the CAN stuff? what exactly is that? Thats regular obd2 stuff right? Can someone explain this to me.. Greatly appreciated |

Can is 03 up OBD protocol. AE will work for the average guy. Solus pro with the diesel package should work as well

i just looked at a used solus pro. It has 2008 software. he said he would update it to 2010 stuff. Is there a specific name for the diesel package?
How about dodge and chevy, Theuse CAN in there diesels dont they? ISnt ford the only odd ball? Is ford still that way thru the 6.4? how about the new 2011 trucks? I just dont want to buy something and find out its not right for me. thx |

Ford uses CAN as well.
They all do on 03 up rigs. Just different variations of it |

the only odd ball was the 7.3 motor? the 6.0 and 6.4 are CAN right?
whats it called for the 7.3? what do i need to have in the handheld device so i can read 7.3 stuff? The solus pro will. But if i went with something cheaper? |
